NLBM - Skills Development
(How it works)

The program provides financial assistance to eligible individuals to help them get the skills training they need in order to find employment.

It can cover the following eligible costs:
*Tuition
*Books
*Mandatory Fees
*Living Expenses
*Dependent Care Expenses
*Disability Needs
*Transportation
*Accommodation

To qualify, all applicants must be:
*EI Eligible – have had an EI Claim in the last three years or five years if it
  was a maternity/parental claim.
*Unemployed or underemployed (less than 20 hrs. per week).
*Unskilled or have outdated skills.
*Other criteria may also apply.

Skills Training
There are several options for accessing financial assistance for training, but the one that we work with most often is the Newfoundland & Labrador Benefits & Measures (NLBM - Skills Development) sponsorship program. Click this link to view the details of the program on the governments website.

We can help you to; explore your options, prepare a funding application & help support you throughout the period of training.
NOTE:
If you are planning to seek sponsorship through the Skills Development program, contact the EAS Office at least three (3) months prior to the start date of your course.

  Labrador Student Loan Program.

*Student Line of Credit from one of
  the commercial banks.

*Personal loan from your bank.
